I have to return to the ship. Lavi, Miranda- everyone will worry. I can't let that happen. Move, move! Legs, please- move!
Linali's eyes slowly fluttered open, but the first thing she saw was a brilliant blue sky. They had left for Edo in a storm, so how long had she been unconscious? She was lucky to be alive. Staring at the sky for a moment she struggled to sit up, pain shooting up her legs when she tried. They were covered in blue spirals where her boots used to be- and with a pang Linali remembered that her boots were gone.
Her head felt light. Her hair- it was gone as well, her clothes in tatters, large bruises on her face. Everything hurt, she felt so incredibly tired- Linali wanted to sleep forever, but she was alive. Feeling as weak as a newborn kitten, the Chinese exorcist sat up, and looked around her. And discovered that not one face here looked familiar.
Lavi, Miranda, Krory- there weren't here. She felt the boat underneath her shudder for a moment before it stopped, apparently having pulled into the docks now. Inching her way to the edge of the ship from the floor, bit by bit, she finally managed to pull herself up enough to look over the edge of the boat.
It was painstaking work. Her legs hurt so much, her body felt so weak. But Linali just gritted her teeth until they were sore, brows furrowing in concentration, her goal being to move about two feet. She leaned against the edge once she pulled herself up, looked out onto shore, and gasped.
This place looked nothing like home. It was warm here, tropically so- it felt nothing like England. The others, her friends, weren't here. Linali's mind was whirling in a thousand places and she couldn't quite understand where she was. And for some reason she knew that this couldn't be heaven.
Wide, violet-blue eyes looked out from the ship with obvious confusion in them.
