Nodame covered her mouth with a yawn and sleeply rubbed at her eyes. She had managed to drag herself out of bed early that morning deciding to drop by at the store that was mentioned in her journal the other day. Walking through a few shops she finally stopped when she heard a Japan's voice.

"Hau~?" She glanced over to Kaoru, and looked up at the store name recognizing it instantly. "Mukyaaa! Nodame found it!" She exclaimed while rushing towards Kaoru. "Please, Nodame needs to know if a Tamaki-san is around!!" She began, not realizing Kaoru was the one she had talked through her journal the other day.

If Nodame and Tamaki actually met, Kaoru had no doubt they would get along just fine... But he couldn't for the life of him place her accent...

"He was here the other day, but he might turn up today as well... Nodame-san? He needs to pick up his outfit for the ball, after all!" Kaoru chuckled, then gestured to the inside of the store. "By the way, are you still in need of an outfit? We made a few generic extras just in case..."

Nodame hung her head when Kaoru mentioned Tamaki was absent. She immediately perked up at the mention of possibility of the blonde turning up.

"Really? Nodame can wait then!" She smiled, excited about the possible chance of getting to touch a piano again. At Kaoru's gesture towards the store, Nodame walked inside. Glancing around Nodame beam at the dresses on display. "Ooh! These dresses are like VeruBara!" Her eyes sparkled at the sight of them. She turned to face Kaoru, with a questioning smile.

"An outfit for the ball? Nodame didn't think about it at all! Nodame figured it'd be okay to just walk in with what Nodame's wearing now." She slightly pulled at the fabric of a rather casual peasant dress she had found inside the closet of she found back at the Crimson Dragon Inn. "And Nodame doesn't have any money to buy any new clothes."

"Dear Nodame-san, that just won't do! I implore you to look around the store and please make yourself comfortable while you wait for Tamaki to show up - he never was one to let the hour of the day top him from accomplishing anything, so I can only hope you aren't kept waiting long."

Perhaps he had left commissioning ball outfits a bit late.
But, late was better than never! Jade was right, they couldn't go dressed as they were. He had an idea of what he wanted for them both anyway, though had neglected to mention it to his Colonel. Surprises were more fun, and he wasn't sure he could explain it anyway.

Schuldich had spoken to him of something called a 'tuxedo'. Peony wasn't quite sure what one was, but it sounded very sharp. He wasn't the type to cover himself in gold and silk, so this seemed a much better option. It had been a long time since he had ever had to go into a shop for anything. Today was looking like it would turn out to be an interesting Jade!

He saw the sign of the store, owned by the friendly brothers. He had only really spoken to one of them at length, but they seemed nice enough.

"Are you excited Jade? I bet you can't WAIT to see what I have thought up for us!" The blonde smiled to his best friend, elbowing him lightly in the side.

Excitement was written all over Jade's face; that is, if excitement was a look of overall queasiness, perhaps tinged with a little bit of... fear. At the mere mention of the one time chance of owning a "Peony original" his complexion had turned a little ashen.

"You Highness, we need to make sure that what we wear is proper of a head of state and the interim Commander of his Military... your designs do tend to be of a more... creative nature."

The ball would be an interesting affair. Peony would see the queen if she wanted to see him or not. He wasn't going to have a lottery decide when he could go back to his country. It may be a child's game to her, but for him, the stakes were much higher. People would not die on account of him, he wouldn't let it happen.

Dragging himself out of his own thoughts for a moment, he stopped in front of the store. Someone was there, two someones actually. A girl, and a red haired boy who he assumed was Kaoru. A friendly smile, and he poked his head into the store. "Hey, Kaoru! It's Peony, sorry I came a bit late. Stuff uhh, came up! I brought Jade with me too!"

He had heard that Tuxedo's were black. That was good, it would be a shame if blood ruined a perfectly fine outfit. The Emperor of Malkuth would do whatever it took to get some answers.

[lol at my Freudian slip, I meant DAY not JADE.]

The walk to the market district had not been at all unpleasant, and Haruhi had found she enjoyed the hustle of people surrounding her. It made the strange place seem just that little bit homelier. It had been easy enough to find, though now she had to locate her friends, who she could not for the life of her imagine fitting into such an area.

The sound of a familiar voice caught Haruhi's attention suddenly and her eyes searched for the face that accompanied it.

"Kaoru," she called, recognising him from his twin even at a distance.

Even though Kaoru was busy with Peony and Jade, he managed to beckon to Haruhi that she was allowed to come in. He pointed to Nodame, hoping that maybe the two brunettes could keep each other occupied. It never seemed this busy at the Host Club!

Haruhi caught the gesture and smiled, patient as ever. She took a moment to admire the clothing around her before striking up a conversation with the girl whom Kaoru had indicated.

Rikku was pretty sure this was the right place. At least, the sign out front seemed to indicate so. And it had only taken a few detours and wrong turns to get here. I knew I'd get the hang of it. Just needed to do plenty of exploring. Which was how she'd spent the majority of her week. Rikku pushed open the shop door and went inside ( ... )

Axel wasn't so sure he liked this girl's way of navigating. Many times during their "tours" and "detours" he felt the urge to just summon one of his teleportation portals to find their way to the twins' shop. Well, he felt more than just the urge -- he actually tried. He wasn't going to take Demyx's word right off the bat without actually giving it a little experiment himself. And imagine his dismay once he realized that Nine had been telling the truth. This wasn't good ( ... )

Rikku had noticed some of Axel's bizarre behavior on the trip over--what appeared to be compulsions to snap his fingers--but managed to keep her mouth shut. After all, if they really were compulsions, and he couldn't help himself, well, that would be just mean. And he did seem to have stopped twitching so much. Maybe he'd just been angry that she got sidetracked (read, lost) a few times. Ah, well. He'd get over it.

Rikku stopped mid-wave. "What d'ya mean?" She turned around and cocked her head to the side. "We have to get you clothes, they're not going to let you in wearing that," she said, gesturing to his clothing. "I mean, sure, at least they're clean now, but really, she made it really clear in her invitation we're not allowed to wear our everyday stuff."

If he'd had a change of heart, and she ended up going alone to the ball after thinking she'd have a date, she was going to have to find some frogs to bestow upon his bed while he slept.

Kaoru noticed the couple approaching and moved to greet them near the door. His other companions had since left, but he wasn't tired... not yet; he was still too excited. He took one look at Axel's long black robe and realized where the remark had come from.

"Ah, so you're Rikku?" He clasped both of her hands. "It's so great to get to meet people in the journals in person these days!" He looked up - way up, nearly a foot up - at Axel. "And you needn't worry, sir, I'm accustomed to choosing outfits based on the original style of the customer." He did frown a bit, a confused expression breaking across his face. "But I must say your hair style - interestingly rebellious - doesn't at all match the plainness of the robe you're wearing..." He put his smile back on. "But don't worry, my outfit was specially designed based on something I remember from back home. I don't think anything else in the store has this much flourish to it!"

Still exhausted, Hakkai made his way to the clothing store first thing regardless. It had been requested of him, after all, and keeping up appearances was crucial to the ball going off as planned.

He poked his head through the door cautiously, noticing many unfamiliar faces milling around. Hakkai supposed that it was best this way; no one would recognize him and distract him from what he needed to do.

"Welcome!" Kaoru called pleasantly, approaching the man that just walked in. "Are you here for an outfit for the Queen's Ball as well?" He really couldn't image that this man was a commoner, but it usually paid to be polite, just in case.

And was that... a dragon on his shoulder? A white snake with bat-wings certainly made it look like a Western-style dragon. Now he'd seen everything; a dragon for a pet... like out of the fantasy books he read. "And uh... it as well?"

"Kyuu?" Hakuryu looked slightly insulted at being referred to as an 'it.' Hakkai laughed softly and turned towards Kaoru.

"It's rather obvious, I assume?" He bowed just a bit. "I'm sorry that I'm doing things rather last minute, but yes, Hakuryu and I need something for the event."

"Kyuu!"

"Well, we did think about just such a case, so let's see what we can do..." Kaoru replied, stepping back into the store and motioning for the man to follow him. He gestured to the tuxedos as well as more European-style formal-wear. "Please, tell me what sort of style you're looking for. Although, I'm afraid we don't have anything in Hakuryu's size."
