“Have ya?” Katou cocked an eyebrow at his black-haired customer. Well, this was something new. “If you’re so fond of me, then I’m sure you wouldn’t mind buying me a drink, yes?” He threw him a cheeky smirk. That was the least he could do for the payment of the drugs and it would give them an opportunity to talk. The spice shop was relatively unvisited these days but there was always a possibility that Sakamoto could come crashing in and interrupt them. And as much as he liked his eccentric boss, it wasn’t the best idea to include him in things as vital as this. This was a shop too, after all.

“And you better not be allergic,” he added, fishing a sleeping kitten from his lap and propping her on the table. Sasha blinked and, looking offended at being roused, sniffled in Morne’s direction before letting forth a squeaky yawn and stretching her paws in front of her. Katou gave her ears a scratch. “I don’t like leaving her alone in here, ‘s dangerous stuff around, ya know.” He added, slightly embarrassed.

“I was gonna close up anyway.”

The cat’s sudden arrival on the table next to him surprised Morne slightly at first. Katou didn’t really look like the kind of guy who wandered around with a tiny little kitten. However, the pirate didn’t particularly mind some extra company - especially not if said company was small, furry and cute. With a smile much warmer than his usual trade-mark cocky smirk he bent down and started scratching the cat behind its ears.
“Well, aren’t you a pretty one, miss kitty,” he looked back at the blond again. “Drink sounds just fine, honey. Even though this might be a very nice little shop I can’t say that it’s the best milieu for a talk between business partners. An inn maybe? In case you don’t want something more private.”

He leaned backwards again and gave his new acquaintance a rather challenging grin. It was quite obvious that the youngster wasn’t interested in his flirtations but it was fun to try it out on him even though he didn’t really mean anything with it. It wasn’t like he had any reason to be desperate - not when there were ( ... )

So Morne liked Sasha. Almost instantly, the youngster had earned ten points in Katou’s personal impression scale. Katou grinned. “That’s Sasha,” he commented. “And she’s used to being around me pretty much all day.” It was true. Ever since he had gotten his hands on that kitty from the group of kids selling them in the inn and Kira had agreed to keep her, the two of them were almost entirely inseparable. She was with him in the shop, on errands and very often slept in his and Kira’s shared bed. After all, he had always wanted a pet ( ... )

“Pretty name for a pretty kitty,” Morne smiled as he saw Katou placing the kitten on his shoulder like other people use to carry pet-birds. It seemed like the boy really had a soft spot for his cat. And for someone else as well - obviously.

“Don’t mind me, candy,” he jumped down from the table in order to follow the blond out of the store, “I’m just fooling around. Mostly.”

He turned and gave the other one a teasing wink.
“And I would hate to come between two lovers.” That, at least, was completely true. Even though the pirate had a hard time believing that something such as “true love” could ever happen him he didn’t doubt the fact that it happened other people. And no matter how little moralistic issues he had, he didn’t particularly like the idea of making two people, that actually had something, split up. “So you have a girlfriend here then? Or a boyfriend?”

Judging by the fact that Katou had said that he was taken rather than “get the Hell away from me, you freak” - the second alternative was quite plausible.
