Fuji had been socializing when the explosion took place. Thankfully, he wasn't standing near the window. But he couldn't find Ryoma in the chaotic mess of the aftermath.
Once he was out of the burning mansion, a new wave of panic and guilt washed over him as his kouhai was nowhere in sight. Why did he lose Ryoma? Why was he so careless? He couldn't stay calm like he did on the tennis courts. People died in explosions, that much he comprehended

"Fuji-senpai?" Ryoma mumbled when he heard a few leaves rustling. It had been a few minutes after he made a reply to his senpai in the journals telling him about his location. He was relieved, finally his senpai was here... when some kind of rodent shot out of the bush

Ryoma had never appeared so feeble in his life. As Fuji hastily ran to his kouhai, he saw that the boy was slick with sweat and his limbs were stained with blood. "Fuji-senpai..." Ryoma called out weakly, before his eyelids fluttered closed.
Echizen hadn't been so fragile, not even when he faced the toughest opponents on the tennis courts.
"You need help." Fuji said firmly, ignoring the perspiration dripping into his eyes. Hurriedly he fished out a few bandages he received from the medical post outside the mansion (which he hadn't used - what did those cuts matter, anyway?), and tied them over the wounds. That should prevent excessive loss of blood for now.
Then he scooped Ryoma into his arms and set off to find the clinic.
