"Don't have too much hope on that," Kaito chimed from the other end of the bar. He had no idea what had made him speak up like this, since he had usually preferred to keep a lower profile while out drinking at night. Who knew how many people would love to catch him drunk and off guard so as to take their revenge out on the man who had made their law-breaking life so difficult?

But then again, nothing here could be explained away with logic. So what the hell. Kaito would take his risks now while he could.

"They fucking watered the damn thing down. Get the ale."

Raising an eyebrow, Kaito refilled his own bottle and dug into his coat pockets for a cigarette. "What a tragedy," he agreed heartily. He wasn't an alcoholic, but good booze had always been a rare find in every single city that he had been to. Lighting his cigarette, he glanced over at his newly found companion and held out the box and lighter in an offer for one. Well, what would you know? Shinjuku's Crocodile could be rather generous sometimes.

Kaito had not heard anything about this 'Ta-ta-ru-su' that the other man was talking about. But considering the number of different worlds, dimensions and spaces that had collapsed into this world, he should not be surprised. Taking out his pen, he tore out a page from his journal and spread it out on the counter top between them, his hands sketching a swift but detailed diagram of how he remembered a bazooka to be like.

Looking up in shock, Kaito tried to mask his anxiety by taking another huge gulp of his ale and another puff on his cigarette. Damn, he was getting complacent. In a quick movement, he crushed the slip of paper into a ball and tucked his pen back into his pockets.

"I said I was a police officer, didn't I?" he smiled in what he hoped was an innocent manner.

Now while Kaito was inexperienced, he wasn't an innocent. He did after all go through with his police training and had heard stories of what those who stayed behind in the showers do. And he did spend a good amount of time staring down perverts who thought they could get fresh with his brother, whether or not they knew it was his brother and not a 'sister' Kaito didn't know. Not that he particularly cared about that. So he did have an inkling as to what Jade wanted from him at this moment in time and what saying yes implied.

The question was, did he care? He had no duty here to upkeep, no reputation to maintain, and no younger brother to cook breakfast for.

Fuck it.

Loading the bullets into his gun with practiced ease, he leaned in for another kiss while aiming his gun in the direction of the barkeep. And fired. Hitting one of the bottles on the shelf, just mere millimeters away from the poor man's ear.

"Let's go then," Kaito grinned, keeping his gun and flipping the general population of the bar off.

Kaito frowned. Wasn't there a closer one... but the whisper in his ear had successfully paused all higher brain functions. Fucking sensitive ears, those things. Kaito growled under his breath and took a few more steps forward, following the other man's lead. He was walking straight, really. Not fumbling at all. Though an outsider would easily conclude that it was Jade's efforts that got them to Crabclaw safely.

How they got from point A of handling the reception to point C of having Kaito pressed up against the wall of their newly acquired room, he had no idea. But they did, and that was that. The process couldn't be that important. Kaito was a result-oriented man after all.
