"Don't have too much hope on that," Kaito chimed from the other end of the bar. He had no idea what had made him speak up like this, since he had usually preferred to keep a lower profile while out drinking at night. Who knew how many people would love to catch him drunk and off guard so as to take their revenge out on the man who had made their law-breaking life so difficult?

But then again, nothing here could be explained away with logic. So what the hell. Kaito would take his risks now while he could.

"They fucking watered the damn thing down. Get the ale."

Raising an eyebrow, Kaito refilled his own bottle and dug into his coat pockets for a cigarette. "What a tragedy," he agreed heartily. He wasn't an alcoholic, but good booze had always been a rare find in every single city that he had been to. Lighting his cigarette, he glanced over at his newly found companion and held out the box and lighter in an offer for one. Well, what would you know? Shinjuku's Crocodile could be rather generous sometimes.

"Piss would be a good estimate," Kaito replied as he smoothly leaned over to light the stranger's cigarette with the fire from his own cancer stick, not caring to take his hand off his glass while doing that. Tapping the ashes into the tray the bartender had kindly provided for them, he took another deep drag before starting up the conversation again.

"Wanijima Kaito. And you are?"

No, he wasn't trying to be sociable. Just...current events considered, he wouldn't be human if he couldn't admit feeling a little lonely from it all.

That was a sentiment Kaito could identify with, surely. It made him feel a little better that his world was not the only one that was suddenly thrown into a tailspin. Cheap thrill, but true enough nonetheless .

"Tell me about it," came the spoken reply, as the police officer -ex, now- raised his glass to ask for another refill. He was drinking this like water and still he could not feel that pleasant buzz alcohol usually promised. Was he getting used to it? Fuck, that would suck. "At least your men didn't abandon ship for some stupid girl."

Sure it was. Even in his relatively short service in the force, Kaito had learned quickly how to read the different faces of criminals. Who were repenting, who were evil, who were simply misguided. But this... the look in the other man's eyes spoke of a power bigger than he could handle.

"I wish I have that sort of reputation. Compared to you, even a walking armory like me is only human."

The silver haired man could not help but raised an eyebrow. "Neat trick, that one." And a rather convenient one too. Damn, when was this guy when he needed help with a malfunctioning refrigerator? Being a part time cop and a full time father-mother-brother-caretaker-babysitter all rolled into one was fucked up.

"So, now that you don't have your poor soldiers to terrorize, what do you do around here?"

Kaito shrugged. "Fair enough," he replied agreeably, catching a cigarette between his lips to light it for the other man. "I'm a cop," he started, handing the lit cancer stick over, and took a glass from the bartender. "With a couple of perks that give me access to some rather unconventional equipment."

How long would it take to get himself drunk on this watered down shit?

"Bazookas, rocket launchers, smoke bombs, tear gas..." Kaito began to count off with his fingers a list of items that anyone else involved with juvenile offenses would have no access to. But as he had pointed out to his superiors, Storm Riders were not your usual delinquents. Their childlike aggression was coupled with the murderous abilities that those damn Air Trecks had given them.
