He glanced at Lenalee. And then at Daisya. Daisya wouldn't meet his gaze. Kanda felt his throat get a little dry. He still wasn't going to talk to him, was he?
"However," he continued. "I don't plan on sitting by and letting things just happen, either."

Her expression softened as Komui continued to speak. When Kanda spoke, she flinched again. He always managed to make her feel so intimidated... Just the way he spoke. It almost bothered her sometimes. He was so harsh and brutal.
"I.. I will fight." She declared, stuttering at first, her voice still timid and shy before she seemed to build up a courage in her words. "I don't want this to happen... I don't want to just stand by and be useless.." Tears welled in her eyes, but they did not spill. She was not weak, she kept telling herself; she would be strong. She'd be strong and get through this, and be useful.

She looked down, remembering Chomesuke as she was at the ball, smiling and cheerful, and then the wasted creature she had become. She remembered Daisya suffering from fighting off the Call, Kanda running and hiding himself from them.
She knew she hated that jaguar god more than anyone or anything she had ever encountered. Even the Millennium Earl himself.
"Zikhadara came close to stealing every member of the Order who's here in Rivelata except my brother and myself," she said. "He needs to be dealt with."

He finally looked up, dark eyes meeting the gaze of everyone in the room - or, rather, those who would actually look at him. He knew he scared them; not only because he'd died and returned, but because of what he was now.
"I'm an Exorcist before anythin' else," he said quietly. "My Charity Bell won't accept less from me. I don't trust the Noah, an' I don't believe that they're just gonna leave us alone. I think ignorin' 'em in favor of focusin' on this is a big mistake."
He shrugged again. "If you wanna force my hand, Komui, I'll go where the rest of the Exorcists go... but that's my opinion."

He groaned quietly as he nudged open the door to the house which served as their headquarters, a cigarette in his lips as always, which he tugged a drag from and then breathed out of, glancing around. He could hear voices in one of the rooms not too far off, and so, grudgingly, he followed the sound.
Cross came to the doorway of the meeting room then, leaning against the frame with a hand on his hip, sucking at his cigarette again, sighing out a cloud of smoke.
"I bet you all missed me."
