How is it going there, Mare? Much damage where you are? It looks so surreal from here, the pics we have seen, but because I don't know the area, it doesn't make much sense to me either. New York without power for up to a week they are saying. WTF!

Hope you and your critters are all okay.

It was about as bad as it can get. We were right in the middle of it. Lots of damage, trees down, homes lost. We were without power since October 29th. It came back on yesterday!! There are some areas in NJ and NY that are still without power and will be until Saturday. After finally being able to see the news, I can't believe the photos of what was lost. Entire towns are wiped out. So if I put it into perspective, losing electricity, water, and heat...I guess we were lucky? When I say entire towns were wiped out...they are gone. Seaside Heights New Jersey, gone. Mystic Connecticut, gone. Parts of Queens NY, gone. This is damage that I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around. In this area it is not so much so people can drive, but to run generators. Now they don't even have that! Chuck was able to finagle a generator for me during the ( ... )

Jesus, Mare! I had no idea it would be so close to you.

And towns GONE? What do you mean? I can't comprehend what you are saying. Flattened? Like all the buildings? Bloody hell. It sounds like the kind of thing that happens here some times when a bushfire goes through a town and totally annihilates it. Pretty much all our news of what is going on over there is about the election now, and nothing any more about the hurricane and damage left behind.

They are big buckets you were hauling water in! Glad you and your critters are okay though.

Poor you getting sick in the middle of it all. And ugh - the toilet business. You poor poor thing. I can imagine the bliss of that first shower. :-)

Far out. So so full on.
