UGH! Get a load of that satellite image! That's just friggin' crazy!
http://www.nydailynews.com/new-york/storm-article-1.1194158 I typically don't worry about these storms. I live on top of a mountain, so don't fret about flooding. As long as I keep the ditch that runs adjacent to my property clear so any excess water will flow into the woods and down to the lake I won't get water inside.
However, this storm has me spooked (no pun intended). All the news outlets are calling this a once in a lifetime storm that will be like nothing else we've ever experienced. It's like the Perfect Storm...on crack. So now I worry about loss of power which means nothing works and the repairs not being made for days and days. Last year we had the freak Halloween snowstorm and there were sections of my town (that started 2 houses down from me) that were without power for almost 7 days because there were not enough repair crews to go around. In fact, they had to ship additional crews in from around the country.
And my biggest fear, all the old growth trees that are just feet away from my house and my cages. I'm just hoping those old root systems are strong enough to hold out and no big branches decide to drop. And they're saying this won't be over until Wednesday! What the hell!?
