Is this a translation folly or what?

I followed somebody's crotchet about Anish Kapoor's installation at Versailles to this BBC article, in which they confidently state that the title of the sculpture is "Dirty Corner." My French is rusty, but the French article says the piece is "surnommée «le vagin de la reine»", and my French dictionary says that "surnommée" is "nicknamed." Then further down the article it refers to "le titre de l’œuvre, Dirty Corner." So it seems as though that really is the formal title, in English, and the other thing is a French rendering of what the artist said about it.

Artists. No accounting for them.
