not completely out of it

the library is a long way from finished but we can move the desk thing back in it (two horizontal filing cabinets and a long piece of nice stained plywood). Today I made room for that and put more stuff away. And I made a clothing staging area for the nice fellow that does not involve putting clothes on the floor or on the cat's food ( Read more... )

So what'd you do for the clothing staging area? Sometimes I do laundry and have a hamper of clean stuff that I'm too tired to fold and put away, so I just throw the current day's clothes between the headboard and the secretary. It's out of the way, if messy. But I get the clean clothes out of the hamper the next day so I can put in the dirty ones.

I have a rolly clothes rack with a bunch of his stuff on hangers -- and the genius part -- I got one of those dumb hanging shoe shelves which I hung on the clothes rack and I stuff the kinds of clothes he wants to grab at four in the morning on those shelves. And his shoes can go under the clothes rack.

It's all because he won't use the drawers upstairs. They're inconvenient to him, and when I actually sort things -- work pants in two drawers, jeans, shorts, etc. in another, t shirts in another, underwear in another, socks in another -- he claims he can't find anything.

So he likes to leave his jacket on the floor in the middle of the kitchen or the library, and his outfit for the next two days on the surface that's supposed to be for the cat to eat and hang out on and glare at the dog from.

But these things drive me nuts. So I've done this and I hope it sticks.

Oh, grab and go! What a great idea for someone like him!
