water water everywhere

Today is Snapshot Day. We go out in little teams and sample the water in creeks and culverts and sloughs up and down the coast from Pacifica to Morro Bay -- three hundred miles of the Central Coast. My team went to Corralitos Creek and Harkins Slough. It was more fun than I can say. It's like hiking and chemistry sets and girl talk all at once -- ( Read more... )

Oh, it was, and it went on: we went to see Berlioz' Requiem done by the Santa Cruz County Symphony at the Civic, and we had to sit right under one of the brass choirs up in the rafters because we got late, cheap tickets, and it was great sitting right under the trombones. I enjoyed myself a lot even though I don't much like the kind of music it was. It had some rollicking parts and some really loud parts, and I liked them much better than the contemplative parts.
