I'm not exactly one for parties. No surprises there. But if it's for one of the X-Men, and this one in particular, I feel like I should show up.

Even if it's just to find a quiet spot and a beer in Stark's surprisingly well-appointed kitchen - guess no one told him we're on a deserted island - and lay low.

"I think he looks a little like he got hit by gamma radiation," I say, because he does. That, or he's related to Polaris, and I ain't wishing that on anyone. "Quick on the draw, though."

[un_gloved]

"Oh, he does not- draw?" she said, blinking a few times, derailed. She set her drink slowly on the counter top, eyes clouding a bit.

"He's quick on the draw?"

"Sure," I say, as if she's not set to go working herself into a fine state of outrage.

[un_gloved]

"And just how in the hell would you have got your hands on that information, Wolverine?" she demanded, one hand making it to her hip and the other curling taught against the counter top.

"I'm a good judge of character," I say.

Probably not gonna work.

[un_gloved]

"Logan," she grit out, eyes narrow but bright. That wasn't going to work.

"We might have had a bit of a chat," I say, washing the words down with beer. "You know how it is."

[un_gloved]

"....No?!" she countered, a bit explosively. "How in the world would Ah know how it is, Logan?! What- What did you do!"

"Relax," I say, putting my hands up briefly to wave her down. "I just stopped by his place to meet the guy, is all. He wasn't home, so I made myself comfortable."

[un_gloved]

"Oh mah God," she said, covering her face with one hand. After a moment, she dropped it, still frowning but not directly at Wolverine, any longer.

"....he didn't tell me."

I shrug. This, at least, is not my problem.

"Yeah, well, like I said," I say, "it was just a little chat. No big deal."

Probably would've been wiser for him to mention, sure, but I'm not about to sell the guy down the river.

"It better've been," she said, advancing on him with one finger deployed to make sure she got the point across.

"Because if you think for a gall darn second I'm above shavin' off your sideburns while you're sleepin' you sorely underestimate me."

[exweapon]

"I said it was, didn't I?" I say, and that's all I'm saying on the subject.

Even if she would do it, which I know she would.

That sounded final. She watched him dubiously for a moment, before she dropped the finger and turned to pick up her drink.

"All right then."

[exweapon]

"All right," I agree, and take a drink.

That went better than I expected.

Admittedly, I still half expect her to be able to punch me through the wall, so maybe it's not that big a surprise.
