I managed about 15 hours on The Somnium Files before finally bouncing; Date is just...not my type of protagonist, and virtually all the jokes fell flat for me. The mechanics of Syncing are really cool and the final Sync in Ota's route had like actual emotional weight to it, but the bad just outweighed the good. I guess you have a higher tolerance for that sort of thing? Also you did not pay for it yourself, whereas I did and am still bitter about because it was way too expensive for a puzzle game I didn't even like. Aiba's fun, though. I just wish she was with a better protagonist.

It's possible it helps that I'm playing while a friend watches, so we can both make fun of Date. Date's horniness also seems to manifest more as 'making bad jokes' than 'actively hitting on people who aren't interested' (I'm looking at you, Sigma), which I find a lot more bearable. But I don't think it's a coincidence that my favourite Uchikoshi protagonist by far is Carlos of Zero Time Dilemma, the only one I've encountered who doesn't make 'hilarious pervert' comments at all.
