Hello, Keith.

I went to a recording of The Unbelievable Truth a few days ago! The panellists were John Finnemore, Lucy Porter, Jeremy Hardy and Frankie Boyle; the host, as ever, was David Mitchell. It's the first time I've seen Lucy Porter live; she's never entirely worked for me on the radio, but I quite enjoyed her here ( Read more... )

and a travel website called 'GoTrump.com', and he once wrestled another millionaire to the ground and forcibly shaved him

I briefly misread that a website that consisted entirely of video of Trump wrestling other millionaires to the ground and forcibly shaving them.

Mitchell: Unfortunately, that is not true.
Hardy: But that's what you'd say if you had been, isn't it?

I once got into a very long conversation with a drunk guy at a party in a small village in the Philippines where he asked if I was a spy, I said no, and someone pointed out that's also how a spy would answer. He then spent the rest of the night deploying the sophisticated interrogation technique of "No, but really, are you a spy?"

(In a different rural Philippine village a woman I know was all "I found your cat!" And when she discovered that my cat was inside, and she was holding a different but extremely similar-looking cat, she turned it to face her and asked "Are you a demon?" I never found out what she would have done if the cat had said "No.")

One of my favourite lies of the evening was 'A spy will say no the first two times you ask them if they're a spy, but if you ask them a third time they have to tell the truth.' If only you'd been able to persuade your interrogator of that.

Wait, David Mitchell denied being a spy exactly twice. Are you sure those were both lies?

although, given the name, perhaps the bikes would just be riding over Trump himself

I'd watch that.

I do feel it would have broader appeal than Trump: The Game. Perhaps we're on to something.

Mitchell: (on snail racing) Unfortunately, it's been discovered that the practice of removing the snails' shells 'to make them go faster' actually just makes them sluggish.

I was just required to explain the noise I made, by my boss.
On telling him about this, the look he gave me can only truly be described as "so withering that I may have gone bald".

I'm so happy to hear this. Nobody should be allowed to escape that joke.
