Or You'll Explode.

Watching Free! Eternal Summer is very weird after vast amounts of Supernatural. Supernatural is a deeply depressing show about two brothers desperately trying to hold onto each other as everything falls apart around them. Free!, meanwhile, doesn't get much more emotionally devastating than 'OH NO, RIN AND NITORI AREN'T LIVING IN THE SAME DORM ROOM ( Read more... )

animorphs, weird pairings, supernatural, free!

I love the episodes where it's really obvious that everyone involved was having far too much fun. 'Changing Channels' is another, but 'The French Mistake' might beat it for the sheer amount of joy bleeding through from the writers and actors.

I am rather enjoying this season of Free! Momo is the most adorable idiot and I loved Rei being annoyed that he didn't have a direct Samezuka rival at his swim-off.

I love that they've introduced a new character exclusively to be ridiculously in love with Rin. Free! is sort of the best.

You know, I actually remember The French Mistake, and I remember that I loved it. So now I'm a thousand times more confused about where I was when I gave up on Supernatural.

Maybe you watched 'The French Mistake' as a one-off even after you'd stopped following Supernatural? I remember I was tempted to do exactly that when I first heard about the concept.

There is a possibility! I used to catch the odd episode on TV before I really started watching in earnest. Then again, I do think I got to that one in the right order.

I think I'll just have to accept that I'm hopelessly lost and I'll have to start again from the beginning, if I ever want to catch up. xD

I can recommend watching from the beginning! I've been enjoying it a lot. It's fascinating to see the way the relationship between the brothers develops and changes over time, and that development is much easier to see now that I'm not restricted to one episode a week.

That actually sounds pretty cool! The alternate universe where the Titanic never sank especially, because alternate universes where one thing is changed and we see how that affects everything are awesome.

I loved the gradual way the alternate-universe aspect was revealed. There was one tiny thing early on that made me tilt my head and think 'hmm, that's odd' (Sam losing a rock-paper-scissors round when he knows for a fact that Dean always picks scissors), but it was so small I dismissed it as a continuity error. Then the other things started creeping in. 'Hang on, that's not the right car.' 'HANG ON, THAT CHARACTER DIED A SEASON AGO AND DEFINITELY NEVER MARRIED THAT OTHER CHARACTER.'

The being that went back in time to save the Titanic gives the most wonderful reason for it, too: he just really, really hated the film.
