I'm not really looking for pity on this I just need to rant.

So my mother freaked out when I told her that I wanted to transfer to MCTC and get an associates. She said it wasn't a real degree that all it would get me was a department store job. Awesome right??!? Not really. So here are my mother's suggestions:

Just a couple of things for you to bring up (if it helps):

1. Most people I know who took a "year off" from college have either not made it back yet or made it back a decade or so later. Not that there's anything wrong with that but most people end up taking more than a year.

2. Some Universities are stupid about their credit transfers. A friend started going to U of MN-Duluth and transferred to the Twin Cities campus and had virtually NONE of her credits transfer.

*hugs* Don't know if that helps but if anything it should make you feel better that her suggestions aren't good.

5. Go to MCTC next fall, and return (probably to a different college than stout) to finish your bachelors in a year or two. getting an associates is not the end of the world, you are just taking some time to learn some valuable hands-on skills that will help you along your journey.

I'm sorry your mom sucks. (hugs)
MCTC has amazing professors. In the time that I've been there I've had one teacher I didn't like.
Financial aid department can be utterly retarded, though, so keep that in mind.
And besides, if you come to MCTC, we can hang out. =)
