Coming up with an interesting post on the drakaina (drakainoi?) in Greek mytholgy, especially those surrounding the Python/Delphyne, Ekhinda, and the Nemean Lion. I doubt most people would be interested, but its just really interesting to see the connections between certain gods and myths, and it makes one wonder... what came before the creation ( ( Read more... )

Haha, very true. :) And I'm glad you have an interest in mythology (I actually really like your Lilith/garden of eden inspired icons).

And also very true. Lol. I normally post posts like that over at my religious blog (http://nyktipolos.wordpress.com) although really I should start cross posting under cuts, but then I realize not everyone who has friended me back is into mythology and/or spirituality as I am. :S

I'm assuming you've read Fontenrose's Python, then?

I have not read it, but I own it, and was paging through bits of it last night...

Actually, I haven't. All I've pretty much known about the three (or four, depending on your perspective) is from Theoi solely alone. Specifically conserning Delphi, the last one I picked up about it merely went on and on about how the oracle worked, then how deceitful it was, until I wanted to throw the fucking book across the room (I didn't though -- it was a public library book).

Does this book discuss what I've mentioned above them? I'm really interested in seeing a point of view of the Python that is all "fetid evil creature slain by the Holy Apollo! Rawr!". Not that I don't have respect for Apollo, I'm just interested more in the Python and the "pre-Apollo" area of that place. If that makes sense?

er, to clarify, from Theoi.com. Not the theoi themselves. :) I'm pretty sure I'd crap my pants if a random God came down and started talking about all this to me in encyclopedic form.
