Oh man, even just reading this made me giggle and smile and now I'm opening VLC player again, and oh boy. The last scene, from beginning to end was just perfect. So well acted. I feel like Amy and Adam are already so charismatic on screen that when they're together, it's sort of electric. And it's definitely amazing to watch. (Sidebar to say that I'm so super impressed with Amy this year, and I probably shouldn't be surprised because she's amazing, but her acting has just been so wonderful. I knew Adam could act, but watching Amy play Leslie this season has been particularly excellent. She's obviously one of the funniest people ever but... what can't this centaur woman do, etc.) And Leslie's little gasp right when she realizes Ben is going to kiss her is... sigh, just so great. I get butterflies just thinking about it ( ... )

Oh yeah I know what you mean about Amy. Like, I knew she was talented! But I'm still being blown away by her going toe to toe with Adam in acting acting. The same way I'm blown away by how funny he's been all season. And yes, the charisma. I unwisely visited the TWOP board recently and read some posts from people who can't see the chemistry there and .... I'm just going to stay over here now where people aren't totally blind.

So funny that the "mature people making mature decisions" storyline involved a lot of childish behavior along the way. But yes--it did feel like she was really choosing him, and not just reacting to the situation. Really felt like they loved each other in that scene.

Haha I thought about that as I was typing the mature thing... that last episode they were all but dueling each other at Model UN, but all the childish behavior aside lol, it was all just very refreshing. Like Ron said. You find someone you like and you roll the dice. So they did. And oh man, they totally love each other. I feel like they could have said ILY at any point before, during, or after that kiss, and I would 100% believe it. I really shouldn't be this happy about a TV show lol.

She totally said it. I mean, she didn't use those actual words, but she totally said it.

I love your analysis of the cheesecake. I hadn't given it that much thought, but the way you discuss it makes so much sense. And how great was Ann in this episode? I've been waiting for more awesome Ann this season, and she's had some wonderful moments in both of the last two episodes, YAY ( ... )

Oh my god, the cheesecake. It was really late and I was watching it for the umpteenth time and in one of those moods where EVERYTHING MEANS SOMETHING. But I think it works.

I think you're exactly right about Ben, that he wasn't secure or confident enough in Leslie's feelings. Otherwise he might have moved heaven and earth to make it work.

I love how realistic it is. It's so relatable, and I think that's part of why I get so worked up about it ... I get to thinking about things in my real life and how it compares and how things apply.

I hadn't even thought of Chris because why waste the brain space this week, but you're right, he was truly terrible. Boss Fail and Friend Fail! Ugh. That makes me angry.

Going to go back to thinking about mouths now.

And Chris laughed at Jerry in the opening scene--I didn't mind when it was Tom and Donna but Jerry already has to deal with the awkwardness of Chris dating Millicent, plus it just seems even meaner when Chris is mean. Thank you for explaining further why he sucks.

Chris sucks for so many reasons, I can't even. Ugh. Sometimes I feel guilty for laughing at his comedy bits because he's such a horrible human being. And I'm trying so hard to use him as a learning experience as a writer by using him as a pov character in my latest WIP, but this episode just made it that much harder. :(

I just downloaded the episode from iTunes to watch it again (and again, and then again), but I really wanted to read your thoughts first. Thanks again for sharing, and I agree with your analysis of Leslie and her feelings, and the excellent way the show has portrayed this flawed yet perfect (!) character. :)

I purposefully skimmed this review initially because I knew you were going to say loads of brilliant things and I didn't want to just copypasta everything for my own review. You did not disappoint!

I loved what you had to say about their break-up and how it brought out their flaws. I think that was a wonderful way to do it, both for the audience (though god, it was hard to watch them be at odds with each other even though they were both rendered sympathetically in turns even at their worst) and for them. Because I completely agree that it was so clever to have Ben and Leslie get to know each other better, at their most flawed, while broken up. Because instead of it being just two people who are perfect for each other, it's two people who love each other and want to be together even at their worst. Because it's only love if you can love the person for their faults as well as their strengths ( ... )
