Why is cleaning other people's houses so much fun?

Well, okay. This wasn't CLEANING, like mopping and vacuuming. This was cleaning OUT.

Where is the electronics recycling center?

The first left after the Stop & Shop on Newington Road in West Hartford, CT. Not too useful for you, I expect. But you can look up Green Monster Recycling to see if they've got a center near you, I guess.

Or if anyone is going to the center in CT, maybe I can give them my stuff to take with them?

I'm going pretty regularly at this point but I'm already HERE, not where you are. OTOH, are you planning on being at Beginning of Summer Party? You're welcome to load as much as will fit into my hatchback.

I love doing stuff like that! You're right, it is immensely satisfying.

And then there are the little nuggets of vintage awesome one tends to find. Like the sewing stash, omg.

Which I put to good use immediately, mending the lining of her favorite purse.

BUT VINTAGE NOTIONS AND THREAD. If you don't sew, I'm not sure you'll get it, but... that stuff is GOLD.

Seriously awesome! Once we've got the bedrooms properly cleared we're going to hire an estate-tag-sale organizer like my mother used & get some estimated prices... & I'm going to check some of the organizer's prices against specific collector venues (Replacements Ltd. buys china, there are vintage baby dolls, that sort of thing) & see what the best deals are, and she gets money & I get SPACE.

I wish I was there to help. I have a passion for sorting stuff out and getting rid of it to a good home!

And you'd be such fabulous company, too, while we were at it.

My muscles are sore today and I think the culprit is the new bookcase -- the nice fellow at Target helped us load it into the car but I carried it into the house myself and I think it might have been a bit over 50 pounds.

My ex-husband is coming over on Saturday so we can move that brute of a console TV. That will be REALLY satisfying!

Yay for spring cleaning! It's gotta be pretty satisfying. (I have recently learned how satisfying it is to dig massive holes; archaeology trips will do that, and I have no doubt that finally learning what color the carpet is contains equal satisfaction.)

The carpet wasn't really the issue. However, I had no clue that one particular chair was blue, or that there was a tan one lurking beneath another pile upstairs. It is indeed satisfying.

Ooh, and piles lurk, too. *Looks shiftily at the mass of unpacking that I ditched at my parent's house before flying off to Israel.*

These piles aren't lurking. They're bold as brass, and have grown used to thinking that the house is their own. I'm making them rethink that.
