evil, sex, and rape on space cases

Mar 18, 2005 19:28

Cat (curiouscat28) said something that made me think. She said "We never found out exactly what Shank did to Elmira so she couldn't "see anymore." For all we know, he beat her up, gave her a concussion, and raped her ( Read more... )

Wow this is an interesting post.

Personally I think that the following characters have had sex.

Ms Davenport

Commander Goddard.

Possible Suzee.

As for the others? Harlan is old enough but he was kinda shoved into a space ship before he could get with a girl ( unless he did it during school with some unnamed girl) my guess is he probably spends a lotof time in the shower alone, along with the other guys.

If Radu comes from a society where everything is bred with no familys perhaps they have NO IDEA that sex is supposed to be used for pleasure? like plants or whatever? I mean they might not even have a concept for what sex is.

Suzee is supposed to be sixteen right? so I guess it's plausible that she's done it.
A lot of sixteen year old girls are sexually active and we have no idea what breeding is like on Yenslid.
Plus lets face it Suzee is a grade A hottie and she knows it, she doesn't seem like the shy wall flower type.

Well, from what I know of the Spung culture, they seem to be a completely bloodthirsty lot. They enslaved the race of Andromedans, a species that is definitely stronger physically. So it makes me wonder, how did the Spung do it? Not by holding them down with their bare hand-type-things. So they had to use a different kind of force to get them to submit. The Spung are known as a bunch of devious warlords, so I wouldn't put it past them to find out what would make an Andromedan howl in pain and then put that information again and again and again ( ... )

Ugh. God, I don't know if this is fanon or canon. I think it's canon, because I'm pretty sure it's in the series bible. However, I've read so many fanfics it might just be fanon. XD In any case, the explanation for the Spung being able to capture the Andromedans is that the Spung captured an Andromedan ark ship that was full of their eggs. Their entire next generation. So the Andromedans would do just about anything they could to get it back!

But even so, wouldn't the Andromedans notice they were stronger? Once they got the eggs back, wouldn't they try to do something so the Spung wouldn't threaten them again? It seems to me that there must have been more to it than that. I don't doubt that the Spung did that, just that I'm sure they must have done more.

i think i read somewhere that the andromedans were in some kind of a bad part where they didnt have enough resources to keep going, so they didnt want to hatch the eggs just yet, and they were all really old and all of the eggs were unhatched and they couldn't make any more. so when the spung had them, that was like their entire race. and i think there was something about how if all of the andromedans went, they'd get shot up, but a few alone could've liberated it, but they're an all-or-nothing sorta group. it was like tracey or dana (diana?) or kestrel's fanfic, i think.

Oh jeez. Curiosity kills.

Must we REALLY talk about this subject in this particular forum? You do realize PAD's wife reads this stuff, right? Aw well, all the SC fans are grown up now, so I guess it doesn't really matter. Despite my perverted mind, I think I am the biggest prude in this entire group. Grrr.

Fine, I'll contribute my thoughts, since apparently I started this mess in some twisted way.
Commander: He's definitely done it...I don't know if he's strictly gay, per se...but I'll compromise and say I think he's bisexual.
Davenport: While she's a prude, I can see how she might have has sex in the past. Maybe she had a wild side when she was a teenager, or maybe she fell madly in love with the man she was convinced she'd marry...and maybe he broke her heart. We don't know much about her past or what caused her to act the way she does in the series. I'd like to think Davenport's twin sister was the goody-goody and T.J. had a wild side "back in the day." And then she realized her sister was better off than she was and ( ... )

Disclaimer: Keep in mind, that this is all just amusing conversation, and I am not aiming to offend anyone in any way. I was bored and caffeinated at the time of this post.

Okay, Jade and I continued this discussion in an IM, and she asked me to post some final thoughts on the topic. Then I will retreat back into my little corner.

Oh, I think The Gizbot is the Christa Slut. He definitely gets around. You know he's pleasuring himself with all those engineering gizmos when no one is looking. Machines get "turned on" too. YAY, PUNS!

Is is just me, or was that scene in "Break on Through..." suggestive? You know, when Goddard messes with the wiring, and Davenport says, "Commander, stop. That tickles!" Even when I was 10 years old, my eyes went wide after hearing her say that.

Oh, and something about Bova dressing up as Princess Drenusia for a play when he was four...yeah, he'll be a drag queen. Either that or learn about stuff on the street...GHETTO BOVA! With his backward hat and sunglasses and "I <3 my mommy" tattoo ( ... )

okay, here's a weird thing that i was thinking about: most cultures where men and women are unequal are ones in which they have unequal and obvious glaring gender roles, on the whole. okay, so maybe the commander is "t3h h0m0" as we like to say, when he's a human, but in "kangaroo court" he became a spung and had to become hetero because they're still an old-fashioned heteronormative culture. when i was 10, I was totally all like "whoa, omg, he's feeding her worms in the most gross suggestive way." "t3h h3t3r0"

Can we PLEASE stop with "t3h h0m0" thing???? You've been saying it WAY too much! Okay, so it's okay when you type it. Still not a big fan of L33T, but using it and typing "teh" is okay. SAYING "teh" aloud, however, makes me giggle in that cute/obnoxious way...ya know how Catalina laughs? The "chipmunk giggle?" That's kinda what my laugh sounds like. Especially when I've been drinking. So if you say "teh" in the future, be aware that I will go wild with my obnoxious giggle. You've been warned. Oh, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! ^_^

*lol!* no, we cannot stop! because you keep laughing and i think its cute when you have the cat giggle. when you stop laughing and start groaning and throwing things at my head, maybe ill stop. maybe. but probably not. chipmunk giggle lives!!!

Do you think it's possible that Shank could've done something like that, to his own daughter?
My knee-jerk reaction to this is to say "no". However, incest for the sake of preserving royal lineage is as common as sliced bread, so I'd have to actually say the jury is still out. I definitely think he tortured her for information, but the rape thing could go either way.

How do you think the Spung culture is?
Honestly, they remind me a bit of America in the Lewis and Clark days. OMG EXPAND! Maybe the Spung believe that they have a right to the spots in space they've attacked, and they consider the Sol System some type of hinterland they can tap for resources. Oooh... spooky parallel.

And Elmira aside, raped or unraped, do you think she's a virgin?
I'm guessing that the Spung pull that thing where girls are married off as soon as they hit puberty, so I would guess that she's technically already married and has already lost her virginity to her "husband".

Who on the ship has had sex, and with what gender? Now, everybody here has ( ... )

You make a lot of good points. In the future, homosexuality will probably (hopefully) be more accepted.

Let me just clarify a few things. I tend to get paranoid about, well, random things. I'll admit it. It's a character flaw. I actually told Jade that, after reading what I had posted, I surprised myself with how Davenport-esque I sounded. Yes, I can be paranoid. Yes, I can be a prude. Yes, I faint a lot (but THAT'S due to low blood pressure). But I have no problems with this discussion or any others that have been posted in this forum. I'm all for free speech. If the occasion should arise that PAD outwardly disapproves of this (or any) discussion here...then, yeah, I'd shut up and smile and nod to apease the The Almighty Powerful PAD. But that'll probably never happen, so I should shut up, stop worrying...and eventually find a way to stop fainting. But mainly stop worrying. I'll work on it.

the whole "gay" terminology thing is kinda complicated. as a gay person, the labeling thing is completely crazy, from people who are gay taking back words like "gay" and "fag" and "queer" as pride-words, and other people who want to do away with labels altogether, and people who think that they should be allowed to marry and people who think that marriage should be done away with altogether... and i personally hate the whole "coming out" process, because people's sexualities shouldn't be a big deal, and there shouldn't be labels, people should just BE but as of the moment, in this cultural climate, "gay" is still a term thats relevant. i mean, ive had sex with guys before, because sometimes i like guys, and then i get yelled at by my gay friends and then all the straight people are like 'ewwww, you like women, ew, stop looking at me please go away,' and it's crap, the coming out process ( ... )

I actually took a course in human sexuality, and one of the things they talked about pertaining to the sociology of the GLBT culture was that bisexual individuals usually have the hardest time of things. You can't fully fit in with the breeders, and you can't fully fit in with the gay people either. It's kind of widely believed by both sides that the individual is in some sort of transitory phase and will be come completely gay or completely straight eventually. It's interesting (albeit kinda sad) to see that the textbook crap I learned has a real life application for you. ;_;

...maybe in the future the virgin/nonvirgin distinction, like the sexuality distinction, won't matter that much. i'm not sure.Stuff like that could go either way. I have met some incredibly immature ( ... )
