poeticdream is no longer using livejournal. She started using it before I did, back in 2001. She has almost 3000 posts (I have slightly less than half that number, despite having had mine almost as long). She's writing in a paper journal now, as she often has. Why? SUP, since they have bought Livejournal have reversed previous SixApart and LJ practices

hmmmm... i thought that was only in effect for newer users who create basic accounts. i still don't have any ads on my lj and i only have a basic account. wierd.

Still Basic, still no ads...

Might want to re-read whatever release from LJ you saw that announced the change. Could just be it hasn't taken effect for all users, though the account levels page still says basic is ad-free.
