the incredible shrinking mp3

Jan 25, 2007 18:40

I just re-encoded my first show as a 22KHz MP3, making it 49.4MB (roughly half the size it was at first); I apologize if that's still too big for some people to download. Thanks for listening!

EDIT: ravenstar poked and prodded me, and now there's a podcast, so go subscribe to it in itunes or odeo or whatever the cool kids are using these days.

live and direct, podcast, radio, mp3, wrfr

Technically, wouldn't something like a mono 11Khz MP3 at some relatively low bitrate (56Kbps?) be about on par with what you get over the air?

Or did your dad record from the web feed? How does that work anyway, is that basically just a branch on the output sent to the transmitter?

It would be better to use VBR since it's mostly spoken word and thus contains pauses and dead spots.

Unrelated: In case you don't know, your csh email address is bouncing:

Final-Recipient: rfc822;
Original-Recipient: rfc822;
Action: failed
Status: 5.2.0
Diagnostic-Code: x-unix; can't create user output file

A fellow from OpComm says you're over quota. So if you haven't been receiving email recently, that's why. :)

Fyi, I've altered your Newsmail "frequency" setting from "hourly" to "never", since I've been receiving your bounced news mail. :)
