Just went hiking (with a friend not on LJ) on UC campus trail (strawberry canyon. There were no strawberries, and the canyon was only like 15 ft at most). Once we actually managed to find the trail (getting completely lost is its own little adventure) Gorgeous views at the end of the trail->

Sounds like a lovely time! I find that spending time "in the woods" is incredibly healing. Have you been to the Muir Woods yet, the sequoia place? Definitely go, it's gorgeous! Pack a lunch - depending on which trail you take, it can take an hour or five. It's shady and there are brooks and incredible photo-ops, and all the paths are well marked and civilized. I think there might be an entry fee, but I am not sure. It's been years.

The "purple path" is your finger, I think. I do that sometimes. The deer is cute - we get those a lot out here. They love the suburbs; a vegetable garden is much yummier than plain saplings in the woods.

I, too, love waterfalls. So tranquil.

Yes, my partner said that too. Which is still weird because my skin is obviously not purple...

You know, I've been in the Bay Area since 2005, but I've never been to Marin at all. Relying solely on public transport, if BART and bus can't help me get there, I've never been.

Looking at their site now. Looks gorgeous, with multiple trails! 7$ entrance fee is no big. Now to find a way out there...

Yes, my partner was saying when she was rooming with a friend in North Berkeley, they had to chase deer out of the vegetable garden, like every damn day. North Berkeley is considerably woodsier than dwntwn or West Bkly, but it's nothing but expensive houses; no reason to go out there (unless you know someone who lives out there, I guess.)

Gently running waterfalls, definitely, or a quiet stream. I wonder if the sound of water moving being calming to humans is biological/evolutionary...(I mean we do need water, and stagnant water is unfit for use...)
