Just went hiking (with a friend not on LJ) on UC campus trail (strawberry canyon. There were no strawberries, and the canyon was only like 15 ft at most). Once we actually managed to find the trail (getting completely lost is its own little adventure) Gorgeous views at the end of the trail->
The beginning of the trail was out past the campus pool in a more remote area than I knew existed here. I consider myself a city person with a healthy appreciation for nature. Though I would never live in a remote area, being with a buddy or two, just you guys without a building or street in sight, surrounded by lush greenery and the dirt beneath your feet...
...this is the first time I've gone hiking since my (maternal) grandfather became (terminally) ill. I loved every single minute of it.
picspam!
This waterfall thingy was missing only a hollow bamboo tube->
(not sure why the sandy dirt path looks purple)
At the end of the trail, we wound up in a gorgeous (rich as hell) woodsy neighbourhood. I saw a sight I haven't seen in 15 years.
Yup, real live deer! Apparently not uncommon in Berkeley, but they don't really hang out downtown or by the Oakland border.
Then we met up with my partner for an awesome dinner and me and my friend chilled here watching Cromartie High School till her ride came.
Today was awesome!
