Our Christmas --- Six Years Ago and Today

Dec 04, 2011 15:09

Today we are setting up the tree.

This brings back a lot of memories for me. The first tree that we had while living here after my parents divorced six years ago, we were too poor to afford pretty much any decorations…not to mention presents or even food at times.

But…

This will be the first year that we are celebrating together as a family, ( Read more... )

Thank you! Only my mom and I worked on it, probably one of the weirdest things about this Christmas. Everyone has grown up.

That is a HUGE bow! XD

I remember one time when I was a child. Mama bought a tiny tree, barely big enough to fit decorations on. We used strings of popcorn and play dough decorations. That was all we could afford, but it looked pretty to us. :D

Have a wonderful celebration with your family. :)

My mom was the one that made the bow. It was actually the second one, the first was much bigger than that.

Awww...we never used popcorn but I always thought I'd be too tempted to eat off the tree if we put some up. I've never heard of someone doing play dough though.

You too! I hope your holidays have ended up well for you. Right now my grandparents are visiting, so that's all for now!

I'm so happy for you Ricki!
Life is not easy by any means and you're truly a strong person to have gone through so much but still look back positively on your experiences. I hope you're having fun with your grandparents. <3

*blushes* Thank you so much! I feel like my life has changed so much then, but I don't think any of us could be happier. I think it's mainly because our mom always let us know that we were always going to be taken care of and that she made us not worry about money or issues about our dad.

We had a great time with our grandparents! We actually went to see how money was made, probably one of the most fascinating things in the world to me. They left early in the morning, it was so sad seeing them leave. We rarely get to see them because we live so far away. Thank you so much!

~^_^~ I'm glad you had a good time with your grandparents. Is this the only time you will see them or will you head over to their place before the end of the year?

I probably won't see them until next year, during the same time. So it was really a special occasion. We only get to see them once a year and even that is rare too. Unless my grandpa has a bowling tournament during the spring, this was our last time to see them for a whole another year.

Do you guys have any plans for the holidays?

I'm with mom and dad this year around but I miss Reg (my husband) so much. He's off in another province working. Dad already put the lights, tree and nativity set up so I think we're done for decorations. Other than that, I think I'll be working most holiday days but, yeah, nothing special really.
