Oh look, it's a palindromic date today!

I'm working from home this afternoon (my boss sent me home, despite me making it in for my normal 8am start time) because of the snow. So I took 20 minutes of my lunch break to make a big snowman from the excessive amount of snow that fell this morning (about 15cm, and it's still snowing lightly now).

I have discovered that the boots that fell apart today were in fact my old boots, and there was another pair in much better condition elsewhere in the wardrobe. I guess I hadn't got rid of the old ones because they just needed new soles, and I forgot that I'd bought some new ones!

Wah - the sole's just fallen off my right boot. Typical paras, the leather's fine, but the soles (replaced after they left the Army) aren't up to the job. I'm not sure how I'll get across the snowy carpark to drive home tonight, but I'll think of something!

Something we should know about Welsh local radio?

I've just finished restoring back to use a 1936 Invicta AW57 valve radio. I've done a few 1950s valve radios over the last year, but this is my first attempt at something pre-war. It came into my possession from a friend having a clearout, and I spotted it's Art Deco 1930's style and thought it was worth a go.

Is it just me, or does has the BBC iPlayer suddenly stopped working on the Nintendo Wii? Last week it worked perfectly, and it was a handy way to watch things we'd missed and forgotten to record on the TV (rather than huddling round a laptop screen).
