My name is Emma, and I'm a pumpkin addict.

I seem to have a bit of a thing for pumpkin right now. Pumpkin pie, pumpkin whoopie pies, pumpkin muffins; you name it, I've tried it. The idea of using pumpkin in baked goods grossed me out at first, but since being in America (and erm, actually trying it), I've become kind of addicted. I have to admit it, America got this one right.

Heh, it's a subtle pumpkin taste, but I can't stop thinking about it :P Also, bread is *so* much fun to make!

Looks tasty! I know you're going to hate me for this, but if you were to make a non-vegan version, do you just substitute the soy stuff for non-vegan? Or do you need to change amounts?

it's just that, I don't really want to go out of my way and to the extra expense to source things I'd only use once.

SECONDLY, are they US cups or UK?

BOOOOOO...

*Ahem* Yeah, it'd be a simple straight swap with the milks, although pretty much all supermarkets (and their smaller "metro" style versions) sell soy milk for crazy cheap, about 63p/litre ;)

I think that cup measurements are the same on both sides of the pond. At least I hope so, because the cup measures I use were bought in the UK, but the recipe I originally found was American. I've never had any problems, so I assume they're the same.

I'm more worried about the waste issue though. I'm not a huge fan of soya milk, I find it far too sweet and stuff so I'd use the bits for baking and then it'd just sit there. Being not used.

Nah, they're different. I think American cups are larger than UK cups. I mean obviously recipes will work because it's all relative, but yeah.

You can get unsweetened soy milk, but yeah, that's fair enough. It's an acquired taste! I didn't realise there were differences between cup measurements, but I just had a quick look around and sure enough there are (http://www.miketodd.net/encyc/cooking.htm). They're close enough not to worry about it too much though I think :)

It did (just checked the mail this morning), thank you soooo much! :) Also, white hot chocolates sound incredible; I had one or two before I went vegan, but nothing since. Perhaps I can work on a recipe for one...
