Slings and Arrows art + pimpage

So I've got a bit of a new obsession... When my aunt (who's an artistic director for the theatre) was visiting for Christmas, she recommended a little Canadian series called Slings and Arrows to my mom and I. I mentioned it briefly a few weeks ago, but have been meaning to make a larger post about it since I finished watching it. The show is about ( Read more... )

My parents have the DVDs and at some point I'm borrowing them. Same for Due South. They both come quite highly recommended by my parents, and I've seen enough Due South to know it's awesome. (If you haven't watched it, do. Wit + send-up of Canada and the Mounties + kooky crime show + kind of crazy characters + a very … close … bond between the partners… *nudgenudge*)

Awesome, you def should. :) It's only 18 episodes, so it doesn't take too long. (and I'll own it soon, too, if you want to borrow - I'm buying it for Mom for her upcoming birthday since she's considered buying it as well, and I plan to regularly steal it...).

And yeah, I've been meaning to watch Due South, esp since watching S&A. Am craving more Paul Gross. :) (though I do prefer his look in S&A... I love the longish/messy hair and generally rumpled look. Though there is a certain appeal to the clean-cut Mountie-uniform-wearing look. ^^) There's also a lot of crossover in the fanbases, I've noticed - though DS has a much bigger fanbase than S&A, which is sadly a pretty small fandom... (I've already raided Yuletide and AO3 and read everything for my favourite pairing. ^^;)

(and not to sound desperately needy or attention/praise craving, but... any thoughts on the drawing?)

True, true. We'll see. Given how many DVDs of yours I currently have, I kind of don't want to borrow more. *shrugs*

Heh, Paul Gross is awesome. Haven't seen his rumpled look, but can tell you that he spends quite a bit of DS is a tight top and suspenders (or half naked) (and sometimes wet). Yeah, I can see the fanbase crossover potential. Similar writing and actors. :)

Thoughts on the drawing? Something's weird about the proportions, so it doesn't really look like Gross to me. Possibly it's the dent in his forehead. I like how you've done skin creases on his neck, though I think overall the skin shading could be a little more even. Love what you've done with his clothes, though. Very nice. ^^

Gah sorry, I meant to reply ealier, but I was out all day yesterday then I threw my neck out and spent most of the evening on the couch trying not to move my head. -_-

Ehehe, true. ^^ You're still welcome to borrow them if you think you'll watch them. :)

Case in point re: rumpled look - this scene, in which he's wearing period costume and has just spent the night in jail. ^^ And heh, this one is cute too... (okay, now I'm just using this as an excuse to raid this screencap gallery ( ... )
