Work is crazy, so I destress by being random

Mar 16, 2009 23:05

So I was reading the je_secrets comm, and the comments because I am masochistic perhaps, it's interesting to see the kind of wankery that people get up to.

And I realized, I am That Kind of Fan. That got into Arashi because of the music.

Yeah, you heard me. XDDD )

links, meta, thinky, random, attempting to convert people to boybands, arashi, ficrecs, music, my brain is a strange place

Arigatou! This song list is great... and I've once again realized that I haven't really listened to a lot of their songs... Pikanchi Double will also always be one of my favorites, the melody and the harmonies are just so beautiful and whenever I hear this song, I can imagine their performance of it in the Iza Now con.

I was laughing so hard when you described Jun in the 2006 AAA Cool and Soul performance. He's my ichiban but I want to smack him whenever he's going overboard on the sexiness. (I wonder if I'm just biased but I don't remember him overdoing it in the 2008 Taipei AAA... hmmm...)

Anyway, thanks for posting this, I'll check out some of your favorite songs that aren't on my playlist... XD

Heee, yeah, give some of their older music a try. I was rather surprised, first getting into Arashi, that a bunch of the songs in the albums were pretty good, though their older singles could be hit or miss for me.

whenever I hear this song, I can imagine their performance of it in the Iza Now con.

YES. Is it like that for you too, that a lot of their songs are tied more to the concert performances than the cd tracks?

Oh Jun. ♥ His cam-whore tendencies make me facepalm, but it's cute. Which probably isn't the reaction he's going for, but, well. :P Hmm, I don't think he was trying quite as hard to be sexy in AAA Taipei, but I remember a couple times he messed up on his Chinese, so he tried to cover for it by saying "Wo ai ni" (I love you) and people screamed and forgave him. XDDDD

....so any other favorites besides Pikanchi Double? I'm loving this discussion, it's making me revisit songs. ^___^

*waves hello*

Outside your list... I love Sirius. Have you seen the clips of pan2pan2satoshi playing Arashi songs on piano? If not, check her link below ( ... )

I applaude you for being brave (or, yeah, masochistic) enough to face the wankery that is JE-secrets. O.o I went there once and never went back ( ... )

Haha, yeah, I was reading a thread and people were like, "Oh honey, NO ONE gets into JE for the music" and I basically took a moment to think about it and realized, yes, actually I did. :D I wasn't as into the variety shows at the beginning, because there wasn't much on crunchyroll in 2007, and only a couple of subbed clips. I saw one of Aiba boardgame from hell in DnA, and maybe a DnA theme song (which I was so grateful for, because it had their names to denote the members, so I could use that to tell them apart XD) and that was it. Lots of wtf-ery going around, haha. So I ran away to watching a lot of PVs and concerts. :P ( ... )

Do forgive this stranger for commenting here, but this post is really nice! I haven't heard some of the songs you listed, I'm a newbie fan and I haven't got the chance to listen to Arashi's full discography, but I agree with what you wrote about the songs I'm familiar with ( ... )

No apologies necessary, welcome stranger! ^_^ Feel free to comment as the urge takes you, lurk or chillax, I don't bite. :D Just watch out, I tend to write lengthy comments as the words spill out of my brain, hehe.

Everybody starts somewhere. :P And I may make recognizing things difficult because the ones I like best aren't the singles that everyone knows or get sung at the concerts all the time. Speaking of concerts...

My first reaction was, shall we say, not encouraging. I was horrified by the costumes! Feather boas, seriously? I AM TOTALLY WITH YOU. Like I linked above, I downloaded the AAA Taipei concert just to understand the fic reference to Jun's horrifically purple outfit, and man, was it horrific. I kind of...soldiered onwards because I did like the music. :P But if you want to get, um, desensitized? A quick course would be lockability and flange5's JE Costume Hell Picwars. I'm linking you to the index page, heheh. All the best (i.e. eyeblinding) that Johnny's Entertainment fashion has to offer. :DDDDD ( ... )

YES to that picwar! I also lurk at their entries, and I think I still have a long way to go before I get desensitized, I still react the same way at each picspam! (horrific fascination and incredulity)

Yes, I saw the subbed version of La Tormenta and it just made me appreciate the song even more!

Thanks! I'll try to comment more and not just lurk! :)

I love Arashi's music, for most of the same reasons you mentioned. It makes me happy. :) My favourites, though, hm...

Subarashiki Sekai - I find that I listen to a certain Arashi song a lot for a particular span of time, and this one I listened to almost constantly during my last practicum block whenever I felt lonely or unsure or isolated, and I hadn't seen my friends for weeks. For some reason, the line (君の街まであと少し) really resonated with me, that feeling of almost thereKaze - I love how hopeful this one is, and I love the Time Concert MC version. One of the things I love best about concerts is being able to see their faces and expressions while they sing; even when I'm listening later on my iPod to a song, I can remember just those flickers of emotion and it sort of adds an extra layer to the lyrics ( ... )

Mmmmmm, Subarashiki Sekai is a gorgeous song, thank you for reminding me. Their solos are so lovely. Oh! That's the line for your Saudade-verse story!

Kitto Daijoubu's not on my list, but I love how so many people in the entertainment world like this song. :D Did you ever see that clip of Ken Hirai talking about it during one of his concerts? And Eiji Wentz from WaT sang a bit on Utaban, hee.

I need to look up the lyrics for Kaze and learn what they're singing~ Ah, the UraArashi parts of concerts are so cool.

If you want to go on, please do. I'm loving this discussion, so many songs to revisit! ♥

I thought I backlogged enough through your journal but i didn't go back enough to get to the fannish history post. That sidepanel is really a good idea :). That was interesting, getting into a fandom because of great fics and writers ( ... )

Haha, so you went through my old posts? I thought I was the only person around crazy enough to do that. :P I actually have a history of getting into fandoms through fanfiction. I began as I mean to go on. XD Some fandoms I'm in solely through (and for) the fanfiction, with hardly any experience with the canon. See: Gundam Wing, Fushigi Yuugi, Weiss Kreuz, and a few other fandoms. XDDD Now this means I need to go wander through your journal and see how you got into Arashi. :D

That would be kind of cool to re-release the Pikanchi Double single, but I'm not sure it would make sense to do so? I would think they'd do a 10-year version of their 5x5 greatest hits album they released for their 5-year anniversary.

I'm with you! I was seriously :| at the All or Nothing PV, chibi!Arashi attempting to be hardcore, but hearing them do it in concert with older and lower voices, and the crowd energy, makes it so much better. Lucky Man, too. Which reminds me, I need to go hit up flange for those AAA mp3s, I was so excited when she posted them. :D
