Quick post on last night's Supernatural

Does anyone here on my Flist even still watch? *sigh* I miss the old days of LJ.

Anyway. Here, I'll cut this rant in case people haven't seen it.

Yeah, the whole host-killing thing is getting to me as well. And the dismemberment thing last night was just disturbing as all get out. It's making me not like Dean very much at all anymore (he's different from a serial killer HOW,exactly?)

The whole Grampy Winchester being an archivist was just a bit too...fanficcy for me.

I was thinking the same thing last night...and no one questions the fact that they are somehow going to *chop her up*. Where? How?? Ugh. He's getting *very* close to serial killer range, here. Obviously the woman is from 1958 but I don't understand why they wouldn't want to try and save her. It's not her fault she was possessed.

Yeah, I agree with the retconny Men of Letters thing. It would make for an interesting Alternate Reality fic.

I still watch Supernatural, and honestly I like this week episode, eventhough I do miss the SPN like back in season 1-3. As for grandpa Winchester, I think since he died so young and never really got close with John, that's why John never thought to become a hunter, before he met Mary.

I am hiding from the rant atm but I wanted to say I'm back to watching! My friends and I are catching back up from season 6 to present. It's a lot more fun watching it together so I'm sort of staying outside the fandom loop for now. :x

I guess I didn't mind the chopping up because it was sort of the only way they knew how to get rid of the demon. The knife didn't work (silly then that a devil's trap would, but I suppose it's nice they've kept one bit of continuity throughout the years), I'm assuming they couldn't find a spell/exorcism (it didn't work in 1958) that would send her back to hell. This gives the show a lot of leeway in their bad script writing (here of the continuity rather than crappy lines variety), but I think it makes sense. Also, one of my favorite fantasy series has a book where a female demon is chopped up because that was the only way she couldn't reconstitute herself so it was familiar to me, which I suspect makes me less upset about it. Frankly, hunters ARE serial killers and Dean has always been one of the worst of the bunch, so I kind of accept it now, much the way anyone who likes Dexter would have to accept it ( ... )

It's just something about the idea of the two of them actually dismembering a human that creeps me out more than their usual killing sprees. I wish the line wasn't just a throwaway, because there are some deep psychological issues being glossed over here.

Gah, Crowley. You know they are making shit up as they go! First he's a crossroads demon, then king of hell, and then he's made of red smoke instead of the common black color. I think they had intended to kill him off and decided to keep him instead and now have to backpedal.
