Since the advent of the Internet, I've noticed myself forever enslaved to checking my e-mail, checking news sites, checking anything. With cell phones in our pockets, I find myself and friends playing with our phones all the time. People aren't smoking any more, they're checking

Shut it off

When I am tempted by the internet demon, I just shut it off. Allow yourself 5 minutes every hour to check email, blogs, etc. And the rest of the time, work.

Of course, I rarely do this. Only when I have a really pressing project and am trying to overcome procrastination.

The only time I'm not "checking" is when I'm actually working on a project that interests me. Those have been hard to come by lately.

I know that's not a very helpful answer.

Yeah, just shut it off. That's the only way I've been able to study in law school. Make sure I'm not in a library with internet access, because it's distracting to me.
