I still think it was my Mom's fault, exposing me at such a young, impressionable age to Sean Connery and James Bond.  I love spies.  I love spy shows and movies.  It doesn't matter that usually they've got some...unrealism.  (I did say Bond, after all.)  In fact, give me a particular mix of elements and make them spies, and I am just about ( Read more... )

When I was a youngish teenager, like 14 or so, and just experimenting with writing, I wrote this series of stories that I called my Super Secret Super Spies stories. It was about a team of...well, super secret super spies. They had codenames and specialities and it was all very Mission: Impossible. I don't remember a lot of it now (I might still have them kicking around on a hard drive somewheres) but I remember that I had a kickass woman spy named Juss, which was short for Justice, and her ex-husband Paul was also on the team of course they were actually still in love and blah blah blah.

Man, now I want to read those again. If not just to cringe at how bad and juvenile they were.

So I started watching this tonight. Less than five minutes into the first ep and they're playing a song by Florence and the Machine? I'm won over by that ALONE. Also, spies. :D (Like you, I was introduced to James Bond at an early age by my mother--I was eight and Thunderball was on TV. I've pretty much not looked back since.)
