We found a home day care that we really liked.  We spent an hour at her house talking with her and her husband, and they were both really nice and I liked her set up.  She has a huge house with a big backyard, she's been running day care for 28 years, she only has 3 kids right now, Sabrina would make 4.  She has a play room, plus rooms set up for ( Read more... )

Did you say you had gotten recommendations for her care? That doesn't reassure you?

Honestly, every time I moved Jack to a new daycare there was initial anxiety. There is always the worry that it will be worse, that they will surprise you with something crappy. I would suggest listing out the cons of each daycare and then decide if the newer place really makes you less comfortable than the old. Also, you should be able to test out the new place with half days and such. You shouldn't have to jump right in like that, ya know?

Yes, I did get recommendations from other nursing moms at work, and you're right, that should reassure me, but it doesn't. It did at first until the anxiety set in, and now all I can focus on are the things that I don't like about the new day care. I don't think Sabrina would be in any danger there, I just don't think it's the right place for her.

Mike and I did talk about all the pros and cons, discussing them at length, and realized that the situation is not as bad as we sometimes feel it is at her current day care. Sabrina is really attached to her two main providers, and they obviously care about her. That's why we've decided to just give it a little longer and see if things improve in the toddler room...if not, we'll definitely reconsider a home provider.
