I was doing it as a pelvic drop last fall when he taught it, because it was the easiest/fastest way for me to get that arch/contract motion of the trunk-- and it seems like that arch/contract is really the motion, and it's maybe a little more driven from the chest than the pelvis, but like so many things in this dance style, it seems like they're not all that specific about the how so long as it creates a good effect. But I do remember that he was praising Jen in the workshops last fall for her motion, which was decidedly chest lifty and bouncy.
