On Person of Interest Fanfic

Mar 21, 2013 19:42

Once I had determined that Person of Interest shows a very interesting relationship, and had watched all the eps there were to watch, I went looking for fanfic. This is my normal modus operandi.

About slash fanfic, or the comparative scarcity thereof. )

I had this whole giant endless thread with spatz once about all the awesome ways you could do amnesia in this fandom. It ended up with both of us writing amnesia fic.

I REALLY want fuck or die, too, though. And hooker fic. Oh, and bodyswap would be really interesting in this fandom, too. They'd both do so badly in each other's bodies. Reese would have to deal with Finch's chronic horrible pain issue and his comparable fragility, and Finch wouldn't do very well at suddenly having to be the one in charge of physically defending them, either.

Bodyswap would be wonderful. They'd do horribly in some ways, but I think that ultimately both of them would learn a lot from the experience, too. In their case, I think it wouldn't be so much about understanding each other - they already understand each other very well. But I can definitely see them learning more about the roles they each occupy, how the way people around them react to them and their respective roles, and how much of an effect all of that has on who they actually are. That would be absolutely fascinating. (I hope I didn't phrase this too confusingly. It was very clear in my mind. *g*)

Yay for amnesia!fic - such a wonderful guilty pleasure. Though really, I don't actually have any guilt about it at all!

You think there is a scarcity of slash in this fandom? Try looking for POI gen and you'll know true despair.

Yikes, I can only imagine. I feel your pain! There really needs to be more fanfic in this fandom, period.

So you don't like Finch/Reese, then?

The pairing doesn't do anything for me. :(

I have no interest in seeing them in a sexual relationship. Give me casefiles, crossovers (Come on! How many canons are there with a New York setting where characters might end up in mortal danger?), angst, h/c, friendship, trust issues, timetravel AUs historical AUs, conspiracies - but as soon as anyone starts taking off their clothes I'm out of there.

Fair enough! *g* I've run into a lot of pairings like that too; pairings that I just didn't want to see while the rest of fandom was all over them...

So frustrating.

I'm just glad that I actually like the dominant pairing in this fandom. Though there's one definite trend I've noticed in the stories I've read so far: The sex is amazingly unexplicit. I think in everything I've read so far, there was one single foreplay scene that was a little fleshed out; the action cut away before the main event. And all of the other sex scenes were passed over very briefly.

I'm still waiting for the recent upswing in POI interest to translate into more good stories.
There's no lack of terrible ones. *shudder* And there have been some recent excellent ones, but WRITE FASTER, WRITERS. Ahem.

Oooh, there's been a recent upswing? That's excellent! Then all the fanfic is sure to follow. Especially those really long, wonderful slash epics every fandom needs! Surely it must be so.

WRITE FASTER, WRITERS.

They are probably all busy on their huge epics, and will soon be finished!!!

Late to your party, but... while I've found the amount of Reese/Finch fic is growing, I also lament the lack of really good long fics over the trend of short pieces that have seemed to proliferate in recent years in many fandoms. Write it quick and get it out there is fine, but I crave more depth. (That said, my own fics in this fandom haven't been nearly as long as most of the ones I've written in my other fandoms over the years. But at least it's gotten me writing again, lol ( ... )
