A freshfaced young girl "dating" a 90-to-250-year-old DEAD PERSON was old hat when Buffy did it 15 years ago for Chrissake. He's DEAD. And COLD. How the hell is there any romance in someone whose body temperature is seventy-four fricking degrees?

I've got to agree. Overall, the messages to young girls/women in those books are horrendous. Wait for the right guy. Put up with all kinds of bullshit. Let him intrude into your life all he wants. Let someone else force his attentions on you. Don't say how you're really feeling. That's all a wonderful load of crap to dump on someone....that can take years to unlearn and move beyond.

*sigh*
