Doctor Who 6x04 - The Doctor's Wife

Fair warning that this post may grow in size after posting since there are a few very reactionary things I simply must get out of my system before talking about this episode in a more in depth sort of way. So, uh, yeah. Mind the squee.

Spoilers are bigger on the inside. )

Oh my God this episode was absolutely fantastic! I just- I- I loved it. Oh my goodness, did I love it. The TARDIS personified was beautiful and wonderful! I didn't think anything could eclipse Girl in the Fireplace for me, but I'm pretty sure this one has.

This episode was magnificent. It was so much Gaiman-y and so Doctor Who-y. I've been wanting a legit TARDIS personification since forever (been working on fic with it), and this pulled it off so well.

Also, the scene with Rory and Amy running around in the TARDIS and Rory getting all old and insane was legitimately terrifying.

(BTW, this is Bessyboo's friend Graham. We met at the JoCo concert).

It was! It was a distinct blend of styles and it worked out marvelously. The scenes where Amy and Rory were separated absolutely broke my heart. Eeeeevil TARDIS is EVIL.

And yes! Remember you, absolutely. :)

If you want to see more evil!TARDIS, you should check out the Eighth Doctor's audio dramas from Big Finish. There's a long story arc that ends, in part, with the TARDIS snapping and trying to kill some of the companions, and it's terrifying.

I also have much love for this episode. So many little nods to the past sprinkled in too...

The Eye of Orion (The Five Doctors)
Message Cubes (The War Games)
The Doctor rebuilding the TARDIS console (Inferno)

And so many more!
