Much to L's occasional chagrin, I am actually a subscriber to the "It will work out because it has to," school of thought. I realize that this line of thinking has deep roots in denialism, but, well, I'm still alive, and I'm not alone, and my family is still alive, so I guess I haven't been too wrong ( Read more... )

idea: you need to become a professional socialite. blog, promote an "upcoming" book, get paid to show up places and talk, or at least get free food from the venue out of it. go to happy-hour fundraisers where you insinuate that you are on the board of the nonprofit in question, and embezzle part of the proceeds when your light bill is due. welcome to my life-in-dc, where such faux-famous or famous-in-the-field people abound, except for the embezzling part (i think).
