I hadn't read any Stross before we had him out here as a guest for a SF Con in 2006. Of his stuff I quite liked the Atrocity Archives but I've been very taken with the Merchant Princes series. I've read the first three (which reminds me I must get a copy of no.4). Not only are they great books but they remind me of H. Beam Piper's alternate history stuff, which Stross has admitted to being a fan of.

I'd recommend them.
