"Monsters vs. Aliens" & the recent ION broadcast of "The Colour of Magic"

First, some general impressions of the March 22nd airing of "The Colour of Magic" on RHI/ION TV . . . from someone who has yet to actually read any Terry Pratchett other than Good Omens (co-authored with Neil Gaiman) many years ago: ( no real spoilers, I think, but just in case )

super heroes, monsters, movie reviews

Read the Discworld they are wonderful. I haven't seen any of the movies but I don't think the books would translate well. It would be funny but lose a few layers, unless the actors were really great.

You don't see 3-D either? My brain rewired to by-pass the CP so on half of the room is red the other blue. At least with the old style 3 D. I don't know if the newer stuff works different I never bothered to try.

I can see in 3-D if I really concentrate, but it requires energy and I find it distracting (I like my 2-D world most of the time). The episode of "Chuck" that was supposed to be broadcast in the newer 3-D process a few weeks ago just looked slightly out of focus to me -- less annoying than the notable color shift in the older process, but still nothing I'd choose to watch if I had a choice.

I'm a huge Pratchett fan and yet I haven't seen these productions. Scared of what they might do mostly. But Jeremy Irons as the Patrician is almost irresistable.

I can't wait to see Monsters Vs. Aliens! they have it at our local IMAX. Sadly, everything will need to wait until after Easter. We're swamped until then.

Will we have the pleasure of your company at Writercon?
