I'm a bit homesick tonight.  It has been a ridiculously long day.  

I can speak occasional phrases in German, and I'm sure they sound horrible or whatnot.  But whenever I attempt to speak in German, the other person automatically assumes I speak German, and then goes off in rapid speed in, of course German.  It's only when I say uh, excuse me, that they pause, and repeat themselves in English.  I'm impressed by how ( Read more... )

There's a lot of things I complained about while in Italy, most of which I accepted as cultural difference.  They have their siesta times during the day where everything shuts down, which sucks because if I am hungry midday, everything is closed.  Venice, Florence and Rome was consistently dirty, with trash scattered everywhere.  People are always ( Read more... )

Brussel was a surprise.  Nicely put, it was very multicultural...and more bluntly said, it was 90 percent black.  I was taught to say African-American instead of Black, but they are clearly not American, so I am not sure how to refer to them.  Who knew Belgium had such a large black population?  Especially coming out of Italy, where everyone was ( Read more... )

I have got 5 minutes to update!  Anyways, someone jumped in front of our train and committed suicide, so our train from Venice to Rome was delayed.  The Indian lady next to me nonchalantly says things like that happen all the time in her country.  We are leaving for Paris tonight.  My brother is leaving for home in a couple of days.  I never want ( Read more... )
