Thanks, Randy!

I suppose there is little that I could do to keep the dogs from occasionally killing animals that wander into the yard. I just have to forget about it and try to love my little killers anyway.

Here the tulips are already in flower, but it looks like you are catching us up fast!

Yes, dogs can't help being dogs. *sighs*

Max, fortunately, is a bit clueless when it comes to hunting. He's only ever caught one pigeon (and I suspect that fell out of a tree onto his head). My last dog was the opposite - a perfect Nemesis of all things furry and feathered.

Spring is clearly farther ahead in England than it is here, even though we seem to have gotten off to an early start. Unfortunately we are expecting some snow this weekend, and more next week. Syracuse gets an average of 6 or 7 inches (16 cm.) of snowfall after the first day of Spring.

He's only ever caught one pigeon (and I suspect that fell out of a tree onto his head).

LOL!!!

Pretty flowers....makes me miss having a yard to grow stuff in. Had an impressive daffodil & hyacinth "collection" once.....

Poor woodchuck....

I love having a yard for planting flowers, Joe. I am glad that I planted bulbs years ago, I would not be able to do that now. Getting up off the ground is a major task these days.

I like woodchucks and was very sad to see the dogs kill one.

We planted crocuses and such in the autumn, but Lucky was following behind me digging them up and eating them. It will be interesting to see if any sprout.

Oh Dear! That is disturbing, Troy! Crocuses may not be as poisonous as tulips, but all Spring bulbs are considered poisonous to dogs. Since Lucky is still OK, he apparently did not eat enough crocuses to be fatal. Lucky was lucky!

Jealous of your flowers already. :o
It is my goal this year to get some bulbs planted.

Oh No... The poor woodchuck. :( :( :(

I felt bad for the woodchuck too, Jon. I actually like them. https://restoman.livejournal.com/227496.html

Planting some bulbs for Spring flowers is relatively easy and fast, but it needs to be done in the Fall. You could plant bulbs that produce Summer flowers, like Gladiolas, but they are more work, as the need to be dug up every Fall and replanted again the next Spring.

Aww, now I feel even worse about the woodchuck after seeing him again. :o :(

For me the hard part about planting the bulbs in the Fall is that they say to do it before the first freeze. That is so hard to predict here in Minnesota. :o
