The End of the Peach Tree

Oct 18, 2021 17:00

Last week, I had Dave come over with his chainsaw to take down my Peach tree. Way back in 2004, I wrote an entry in this journal, titled: "In Search of the Perfect Peach". Here is what I wrote:

Last Sunday I had the chance to do one of my favorite things: take the truck and wander the back roads exploring the countryside. I took a small ( Read more... )

Mmmmm... peach and apple together sounds really good. I'm glad it worked out well for you. There was a peach tree in the next door neighbors yard, but the squirrels constantly ravaged it and finally it got cut down.

Thanks, Jack, I wasn't sure how the combination of Peach and Apple would taste, but it was very good, The Apple was the dominant flavor, with undertones of Peach.

So sad about your peach trees. :(
Yesterday when I was driving up to Minneapolis and passed a few farmers out in their fields kicking up clouds of dust that crossed the highway, it made me think, how much of all the chemicals they have put on those fields is now coming in my air vents and I am breathing in? :o :o :o

Apple and Peach pie sounds intriguing. :)

Thanks, Jon, I was sad to see the tree go, but it had been so sickly over the past 8 years. I put it out of its misery.

Yeah, I worry about chemical exposure a lot now that I am older. I no longer use things like paint stripper or weed killer. We get some exposure to chemicals every day around the house/work/car, and the damage to our bodies can be cumulative over time. I would close my windows and air vents if there is dust coming off the farm fields. Roundup (Glyphosate), one of the most widely used weed killers on farms, is linked to Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma. But don't leave those car windows closed too long, that 'new car smell' is PVC (vinyl) plasticizer, which is believed to be a carcinogen.

The pie was very good! The dominant flavor was Apple, with undertones of Peach. :-)

I have been meaning to try the home made weed killer made with vinegar, dish soap and salt. Just haven't gotten around to trying it yet.
No new car smell in my vehicle any more. It's 12 years old. LOL...
