I am rereading the Immortals series by Tamora Pierce - yeah, I know, the series is written for young adults or adolescents, but in my defense I bought the series when I *was* a young adult, just as the books were coming out 12 or so years ago, and I still heart the series like woah even if it is so very obviously written for a younger audience - ( Read more... )

At least you're re-reading! I just finished them for the first time! They were really quite good but not as entertaining as the Alanna quintet. Going for whatever the next set in the 'verse is next! :)

I think they stand up well even if they're meant for a younger audience as there are a number of YA books I couldn't read at this age without giggling all the way through. Some stuff is "DUH!" worthy and head-desk-y at 25 but for the most part it's still quite good :)

What's your bunny?

I still haven't read the Alanna series, even though it has been my intention basically since I finished The Immortals. Also hoped to read the third series - Protector of the Small, I think - but haven't gotten around to that, either. Mostly because I can't really afford the box sets like I want - books are all expensive now; where as back in 1997/1998, each book of the Immortals series only cost me 5 dollars, now the same books cost 7 bucks each, and I'm not sure they even make box sets anymore. Sadness ( ... )

If you don't mind reading on the computer I know where you can get access to a copy of the Alanna series and the Protector of the Small set too.

LOL! I absolutely cannot see Alanna being bullied into wearing a corset! Poor Daine would last maybe an hour! Would be hilarious! :)
