To paraphrase Snape: Well well, look who's out for a little stroll in the moonlight. Yes, it's been a shameful five months since I last posted. Real life has made me its bitch, I fear. To anyone still reading, I do sincerely appreciate those who commented or asked after me, and apologize for not responding in a proper manner.

I know all about life making you its bitch sometimes. Glad you survived. *hugs*
Hell, I've seen predictions that wipe out pretty much the entire cast list up to and including that snake Harry talked to in the zoo that time in CoS.
LOL, I'd like to see that. :D
If your favorite dies or meets an otherwise ignominious end -- e.g., is revealed as a despicable traitor -- will you find it difficult to continue participating in the HP community? Will fanfic that either negates Rowling's vision or takes part prior to the grim end seem too bittersweet?
You know, I'd like to say I'd just write AU fics. But I know me. I get so bothered and bogged down by canon that I'd probably try to JUSTIFY the change or death somehow, thus still maintaining my original vision for character and/or plot, hee hee. And yes, I'd still very much be a part of the HP fandom and online community. :D
BTW, very interested in your plot bunny! You should write it. :)
Oh, and did I mention? WELCOME BACK!! :D

Thanks so much for the warm words.

Well, that's good news! I understand your POV completely. AU is fun but when deep down you know your favorite is gone, it's gotta be pretty hard to commit. I don't know how Sirius fans manage it. (Although most Sirus-related fiction I've read isn't AU, apart from the Stealing Harry series by sam-storyteller.)

Aw thanks, but I don't have the guts to write HP fic. People know these characters and the universe's rules way too well, and I fear it'd be painfully obvious that I'm not at the knowledge level y'all are. (I'm such a chicken. See, this is why I'm not a Gryffindor ( ... )

Thanks! It's one of the first ones I actually made MYSELF using a free software called GIMP. I was very proud of myself, hee. :D (Here's another one I made. I'm still ironing the kinks out, but it's great knowing that I can do something new ...)

I hear ya. I feel the same way.

You know, I've only read ONE fic by Sam and I adored it. He's on my list big time, because I need to read Stealing Harry and Cartographer's Craft. EVERYONE talks about those.
...and I fear it'd be painfully obvious that I'm not at the knowledge level y'all are.You know, when it comes down to it, the canon world is just the framework. The writing is something else entirely. You could probably get away with quite a bit, because the main focus of the story is the plot and ( ... )

And I'm very glad you've survived RL throwing things at you and made it back here. With perfect countdown timing, too. :D
There do seem to be lots of theories about bloodbaths around. Apart from the fact they're books for kids (and me;)), and that each single 'big' death in the last three books has had more and more of a greater impact on Harry (thereby leaving the way free for the one with the biggest of all in the final book), I'd be astounded if it goes that way. While I'm sure minor characters will hit the dust in throwaway lines like Emmeline did, anything drastic would not only reduce the impact of the major deaths, but mean JKR would have to face the wrath of parents moaning about their eleven year olds having nightmares for years to come. (When really it would be the parents, who probably pinched the books to read them, lol ( ... )

Ha! Good point, that. And you're completely right -- JKR is more likely to go less for quantity of deaths but quality. Which scares me for our Trio's sake. But I definitely don't think Harry is a goner. Doesn't ( ... )

I don't think Remus or Tonks will die, mainly for the reasons gilpin25 has stated much more eloquently than I could at this point in the day. But I also have to admit if it did happen, I know I wouldn't get any solace out of fanfic, because I've been there done that in a fandom before and my interest died shortly thereafter. Possibly I could still write/read pre-DH...But I couldn't do AU, and I'm not even sure I could do canon ending in character death because it was just seem so pointless that they had a romance at all....

I completely agree re: the seeming pointlessness of the R/T relationship if, and I do mean IF, one of them ended badly. That's one of the reasons I'm optimistic. It wouldn't serve the story that JKR has told for six wonderful books. It's an adventure, certainly, but there's a powerful theme of compassion, partnership and love too. None of the "good" adults have a romantic partnership aside from the Weasleys, Fleur/Bill and Remus/Tonks. While I'm not convinced all six will survive (of the six I fear for Arthur Weasley the most), I'm pretty sure JKR will not leave her surviving adult characters all alone.
Anyway. Many thanks for stopping by and for adding your thoughts. And for all your great work in the various communities. :)
