Teddy Remus Lupin

Is it just me, or was that last chapter completely bunk?

Wouldn't it have been loads more satisfying if that stupid flash-forward (PotC3-esque) had been cut out and maybe a more immediate one had replaced it?? Maybe one in which a year later we got a glimpse of Harry and Teddy? Wouldn't that just round things off a little better. I mean, stop me if ( Read more... )

absolutely. I think that "fanfic as written by the author" epilogue could have been replaced by a very meaningful scene where Harry takes Teddy to Remus' grave (or a war memorial) and tells him about his dad and mom. At the very least it would have had a lot more emotional impact.

I agree. They definitely could've done more with it. Harry is quite like Teddy in the sense that neither ever knew their parents. Simply saying they, the Potters, invite him over for dinner quite often made for a rather lousy interaction between the two characters.

Ayup. Even though I have issues with the whole baby thing, at least there could have been some time to show Harry acting as a godfather towards Teddy. Rather than being something meaningful, it came off as just stuck in there.

I guess the epilogue was supposed to be, in a way, a kind of full-circle deal... but it may have been better as a tighter full-circle than involving so far in the future and so vaguely at that.

It was full circle in the sense that the series started:

Harry=no family

And ended with a resounding:

Harry=family

Everyone be happy for him now!

But seriously, this wasn't a happily ever after, cookie cutter book. I mean, Harry now has a godson and the happiest he had been in the entire series was when he, himself, had a godfather. So wouldn't it make sense to end with the two of them? Throw Ron, Mione, and Ginny in there if you must, but seriously..... Where's the love!?

I give up on Rowling when it comes to Remus. :)

It hadn't even occurred to me that people might think Victoire is anyone BUT Bill and Fleur's daughter until I was talking to a friend last night, mentioned it, and she said it made sense!

(Victoire is French for "victor." What other Weasley would have a reason to have a daughter with such a name?)

I do agree with you, in fact, I don't think I could agree more. This is probably, still, my favourite HP book, but the ending, THAT ending could have been so much better. I don't care who's snogging who, I don't care if Draco's got a receding hairline! I don't care! I wanted to read, to understand how did the wizardry world cope with the after-war, I wanted to know who's the new minister of magic (Kingsley was only temporary), I wanted to know whatever happened to the Dursleys, I wanted to know who did the fifty dead bodies belong to!! Dammit! Adult Harry is an alien Harry in my book. I'd rather see what happened to many other charactes, especially Teddy!!! I don't care for a nineteen years later... Why not 1, 2 months later? A year, at most. Gosh, I'm frustrated. :(
