Wow...I wished this happened more often!
Ha ha! The air conditioning was broken when we got to work on Monday. Yes, it sucked...until they gave us the rest of the day off with pay! So I immediately fled to a much more breezy West LA. The Animation Show 4
It had been way too long since I last attended an animation festival. Thankfully, that dry spell came to an end with an impromptu urge to see The Animation Show 4 at the Nuart. Amy Sol's Karmic Magic
Thinkspace is currently showing the latest work from Amy Sol until July 4th. I went last Saturday to check out this current installation and was delighted (as always) by Sol's work. Skinny Puppy/VNV Nation Weekend
I never tire of concerts as live music is just pure elation. The only thing better than going to a good concert is going to two awesome back to back concerts.

Oh, the places you'll go...
So far, this has certainly been the year of business travel. Earlier this year I lived out of a hotel room in Novato, California for two months. This had many perks and included excursions to wine country (Napa Valley) and San Francisco (Golden Gate Bridge, Haight Street, WonderCon, and the Vivienne Westwood exhibit at the De Young Museum).

Dirge!
Last night I went to Meltdown Comics after work to see Roman Dirge's exhibit before it closes on the 4th. So many cute Lenore pencil sketches! (One had Lenore with a tentacle.) So much painted Floaty Bear goodness! It was great to see Roman's actual work instead of reproductions. The paintings and concept sketches were great to compare too. ( Read more... ) -
Android Lust at Bar Sinister
Ah, Halloween at the clubs. Where the only difference from any other night at Bar Sinister was additional spider web decor, free green goblin drinks and the occasional costume. The Dresden Dolls at The Orpheum
Neither sore throat or nagging cough would be enough to make me skip a Dresden Dolls show (especially after buying tickets like, months ago). I always thought the Fonda Theater was a great venue, but The Orpheum totally outdoes it. This building is a classic jewel tucked into Downtown LA. Yeah, my lungs still feel like they're about to birth a phlegm baby at any given moment.
