Oooh! This literally gave me a shiver. Wonderfully, beautifully creepy, in the context of the original. Which I'm impressed that you chose for the remix, actually, because I get the impression most people didn't even care to read it. ;)

I have to say I didn't quite get the twist at first, but once I went and read your original just now (can we say ew? o_O and yay!zombies! *g*) I think they fit together fantastically.

And I do think this is one of those remixes that doesn't exactly stand on its own, but in combination with the original... Well, "fantastic" is the word, yes.
