Oh, wow. As if the original wasn't chilling enough, now you've gone and broken my heart. Gorgeous, gorgeous expansion of the original. Just haunting. This one's going to stay with me for a long time.
I think I'll echo the commenter below me and just say oh, wow. This defies description. It's just all kinds of lovely, and heartbreaking. The scene with Leela... just wow.
DUDE. Dude. This is incredible. I can't even work out what my favourite part is, the sound that eats sound? The Doctor seeing Susan? Reciting the names of former companions after he runs out of planets? Rose demaning five hours sleep out of twenty four?
And don't even get me started on how much love I have for the scene with Eight and Leela.
I have to admit that The Boy Who Killed Time is probably my favourite fic of my own and I was a bit leery when I saw that someone had remixed it but this is excellent, this is outstanding. Thank you so much!
I am so glad that you liked it. And a little relieved, to be honest. This is my first remix, and I was afraid I'd botch it. ;)
I really loved reading through all your fic, and The Boy Who Killed Time just broke my heart. It's so beautifully rendered, so tightly written, and the premise - just fantastic. That scene with Martha and Nyssa in the garden is one of my favorite moments I've ever read in a fic, truly.
Thanks so much for the opportunity to work within the beautifully eerie scenario you created; I wanted so badly to do it justice, and I had an awful lot of fun in the attempt.
Oh. oh oh oh, holy crap. The original was mysterious and chilling, and this one is just so, so sad. The inevitability of it, the conversation between him and Susan, between Eight and Leela (oh. my. God!), the end when the world is fading out and the only thing that matters anymore, the only thing that can matter, is he's not alone. Break my heart, why don't you? In itty bitty pieces. Fantastic remix of a fantastic original. Wow.

Yes! This is part of what I loved so much about netgirl_y2k's original story - that link between the appearances of these characters (strangers to Martha, but loved by the reader) and destruction. The stronger the memories, the closer we come to the end of everything - when even the memories will be undone. It's a gorgeous set up.
